Tips for a Powerful VR Rendering Computer Build?

My friend and I are planning to create a small VR animation production studio in the near future, and we currently do not have any computer that even somewhat capable of handling 3D rendering at the level we'll need. I wanted opinions on what would actually be necessary or just too beneficial to exclude. We're US based and want to keep the budget as low as possible, but are realistic as to the cost of a system like this, preferably under 2.5k though, if that's reasonable. Additionally, would it be more beneficial to just make a solid PC and some render boxes, or a PC that can handle the rendering on its own? We plan to use 3 monitors, mouse and keyboard, and a digital drawing tablet/screen for peripherals.

If you want good performance within a reasonable budget, then Ryzen Threadripper or Threadripper 2 will likely be your best bet.
