I think I may have posted about this quite a while back, but i'm not sure.

I am looking to upgrade my sound setup in almost every way, and I know absolutely nothing about audio.

What I currently use: Audio-Technica ATH-AD500x, Antlion Mod Mic 4.0, A very old (and very bad solution to my problem) Astro Mixamp to control sound (I have owned this since I bought my xBox headset years ago), all of this going to my motherboard.

I would really like to upgrade past this all for a few reasons.

1st, I haven't got the best quality audio from my modmic, my friends complain that there is a loud hum and lots of background noise, and I have had the same experience in my own recordings. I would like to upgrade my microphone to something a bit more studio, I was thinking maybe a Yeti. I haven't looked into mics in years, and perhaps a Snowball is more viable now. I want a microphone with more versatility, that I can use when just alone both with recording and speaking with friends, or with other people with me in the room. I also need a mic stand/arm for this mic, and suggestions would be appreciated on that.

2nd, I want to be able to plug my guitars in (Fender Strats, Teles, and Taylor acoustic/electrics if it matters). I'm fairly certain I need an external board of some kind to do that, and I would like to get a board that would allow me to have a microphone in, at the same time as one or possibly even 2 instruments as well (2 + a mic is not really what I need though). I want to be able to do audio recordings as well as live playing without having to worry about delay in my sound or massive amounts of background noise.

I know it is a bit of a large restriction, but ~$200 USD is my budget for this project right now.

Thank you for any help out there.

What’s your budget, at least the microphone. The AT2020 is actually pretty good.

Around $200, which is mainly why I asked if a Yeti or something around that price is viable.
