Page File Size

My system has 16gb of ram, my system seems too favour the pagefile and is now up too 12 freaking gb!!! and when playing Ark it sits around at 6gb...... WHY will it not use the actual memory?

currently playing Ark, System ram usage 5.6/16gb, pagefile usage 8.7gb, i just hate/dont get why it doesnt just use 12/16gb of the available system ram and no or as small as can be page file.....

Just let the system manage it and don't worry about it. Your page file is not only used for "extra" memory but it's a copy of what is in your RAM at the moment. This is because RAM is wiped when it loses power so in the event of a sudden crash there is a copy of your RAM backed up to the drive so you don't lose everything or corrupt your files.

 

The page file usage is almost always larger than RAM use, this is normal, don't worry about it, it is not impacting your performance.

Looks like Windows has been known to still use pagefile for processes with low activity. Even if you have spare RAM

this is true, some applications actually require the page file exists. Because they use it rather than memory for the really infrequently accessed stuff. that it wants to "cache" but not necessarily need to be fast.
