Upgrading from fx6300

My current build (fx 6300, r9 280x, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD, 1tb HDD) IS starting to show it's age. I have been looking into an upgrade for the cpu. I'm currently looking at the i5 8400 but I'm not sure if it's the way to go or what motherboard and RAM to get. My budget is about £300. Thanks for your help!

i5 8400 is great for gaming, the B360 mobo should be out pretty soon so it will make a great budget combo.

youd be better off looking for a used ivy bridge cpu+mobo or haswell cpu+mobo, ddr4 isnt cheap

I was thinking about going for used but the used market in my area is whack.
