Rogers rep told me my signal was good.

I had 500mbps download and 20 upload.

I run a speedtest on my macbook air and results are 300mbps down

Run it on my gaming pc with a $50 network adapter from tp-link, I get 70mbps down max

Run it on my gaming pc with a $10 network adapter, I get 100-150mbpd down.

The problem is that with my decent $50 network adapter, my connection isn't stable and I often get lag spikes or even disconnections.

I am always wondering what network adapter my macbook air is using, the speed from that is always good and consistent and I wanna get that for my gaming pc.

What's more bothering me is that something like this happened before, about 2 months ago.

70mb down on $50 network adapter and 150mbps down on $10 usb adapter, so the conclusion should be that $50 network adapter isn't working properly or just pure garbage.

However, after the rogers technician came and fix my internet, I was able to get 250mbps on $50 usb adapter and 180mbps on $10 usb adapter. ($10 usb adapter is capable of getting up to 300mbps).

I am just like WTF, why isn't it a linear curve.

I mean if there's an issue with the signal. $50 70mbps with bad signal, $10 150mbps with bad signal. Shouldn't that $10 usb adapter get more speed with a good signal?

I am pretty sure that there's something wrong with my $50 network adapter and I can't tell what's wrong with it.

I can't get an ethernet cable running due to some circumstances.

Literally my phone and macbook air are getting solid 300-400mpbs speed, while my 2 network adapters are getting 100mbps with random spikes and disconnections. (Same spot(

What's going on??

Agree with @GDRRiley on this...set Rogers router in bridge mode and get a new router with 802.11ac wifi or get a separate 802.11ac AP and connect it to the Rogers router.  AP's probably better 'cause you could wire it to the Rogers router and put the AP closer to your location.

In answer to your other complaints, it boils down to signal interference,  wifi standards of both the Rogers 'wifi' router and your wifi adapters, etc.  Could even be crap drivers on the computer for the adapters.

You could also try a powerline adapter if your home's wiring isn't garbage.
