Headset advice

ReLightz

Hi, recently I've been looking at headsets and can't decide between virtual 7.1 with the corsair void or good stereo with the hyperx cloud. I mostly just play games such as cs go and h1z1 and listen to music, would the 7.1 really be better?  Thanks!

I would personally go for the Cloud. I got the Cloud X`s myself and they really are good, recommended if you can get them. As for 7.1, I`m not that into it, and i would always take better hardware based improvements in audio over virtual or software, but I heard it`s great for gaming, not so much for music.

No 7.1 in headsets is just a marketing gimmick... Do not spend your money on it...

Buy yourself a good pair of headphones or at least the cloud's.  Depending on your budget there may be good headphone options that will sound alot better for music+gaming over the clouds you will just have to get yourself a mic.  Ill show you a couple options below:

From my experience (with stereo, virtual 5.1 and 'true' 5.) within games I think that statement is a little strong.

Surround in headsets is certainly a love or hate thing, and if your into quality sound most hate it.

It wasn't for me, and for 3 main reasons.

1. The overall sound quality is poor compared to decent stereo (but this could be hardware quality related)

2. I found it confusing for gaming (I'm more into competitive FPS than immersive solo games)

3. In many games I found it was worse for directional audio overall (it seemed and felt unreliable)

Plenty of my mates, who are very skilled/experienced FPS gamers use it and love it, plenty don't as well!

I have now experienced good quality stereo sound, and am investing in very good stereo sound (all via headphones) and could never consider going back unless the above 3 points are fixed.
