Hielke

Dear friends,

I want to order a controller for pc gaming RIGHT NOW! What one to buy? Do I buy an xbox controller with adapter thingy? I do not want the steam controller. What is the best Xbox controller and why? Do I buy an bluetooth adapter or something else? Please inform me :)

You want to buy the one that fits best in your hand. Which means a trip down to best buy or gamestop or whathaveyou, where you can physically pick them up and see how they feel. Not all controllers are alike in this regards.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

if you want an xbox one controller then yeah just get whichever one you want whether its standard or elite or fancy color or whatever. if you want wireless then if its the slim or newer style of the xbone controller, Bluetooth should work if you already have an adapter. if you don't have Bluetooth, or already have an older xbone controller, or are getting one at a lower price, then yeah theres an adapter specifically for xbone controllers (up to 4 I think) its like 25$ish

there is a ps4 adapter also just an fyi if you want to go that route.

and a xbox duke version is coming out in about a month

I personally use this one: LINK.

It works with windows both wired and wirelessly but, I mostly use it wired because I wouldn't want any latency.

  1. has to be comfortable to hold for long time
  2. has to be xinput compatible natively
  3. a wired controller is preferred (because batteries always die in the most inconvenient situation)

When you buy it, does it come wired? And does it use batteries by default? So I'd have to buy a recharge block thingy right?

the s or newer has Bluetooth built in so you can use Bluetooth instead of buying an adapter, if you already have Bluetooth adapter, or if its already built in to your mobo/laptop. its up to you man theres really not much of a difference, the older ones look a little less sleek, and don't use Bluetooth, that's about it. you might be able to get the older style for a lot cheaper but you also have to buy an adapter if you want wireless. your choice. whichever will work. I have an older one, with an adapter, no problems.

you can use regular AA batteries, or rechargeable AA batteries if you don't want to spend extra on the special charging kit.

It doesn't come with a wire but all you need is a standard micro USB cable.

It needs two double A batteries. They were included with mine.

It does not matter that the Xbox One S controller has Bluetooth right? I'd have to buy an adapter in both cases as my computer does not natively has build in Bluetooth.

Okay okay, so I'm buying an Xbox One S controller. I assume it does not come with a charge block thingy. The charge block thingy, does not connect to my pc right? Do I need to buy a USB variant of this? Or what? I'm actually a bit confused now.

It's in Dutch so I assume you won't be able to read it :). What I understand: it is just the controller, nothing else. So I would need 1, a USB charger block and 2, an adapter so I can play wirelessly. Is that correct?

All you need is a Bluetooth adapter then because it comes with batteries but, it can be connected to your PC with a micro USB cable if you prefer wired.

just a usb to micro usb cable is all you need, it plugs into the controller itself, you can buy the charging kit or standard rechargeable batteries

So If I buy a USB to micro USB cable, I can game while i'ts connected, but I need the recharge kit in order to recharge it via the cable and then game wirelessly right?

It comes with 2 AA batteries which are not rechargeable so, you either buy a pack of AA batteries that are rechargeable and a charger or you can buy this: LINK. I don't know for sure but, it should be compatible with the one S controller.

Those recharge kits, they are Micro usb to micro usb right? By default? So I would have to buy a separate USB to micro usb cable?

Yes, it is a micro USB cable so, if you buy the kit I linked then you don't have to buy a cable separately.

The battery will be covered up so you would only see the cable itself. If you don't like it then just buy a good quality micro USB charge cable.

Yes exactly, its a micro USB cable. And my PC only uses USB, this means I DO have to buy another cable right?
