So I am thinking about changing my ADSL line to a 4G one with 100GB but I don't know if 100GB will be enough for 2 people. We mainly play online games and watching youtube or downloading for about 2-12 hours a day depends if its weekend etc(the rest of our tasks require very little internet). After we pass 100GB of 4G we move into unlimited 3G. And here comes my questions. Will 100GB of 4G be enough?(I don't know how to count it eg. 100 10min videos on youtube on 720p) Will the ping with 4G be like it is now with my adsl?(50-80 ms) Will the ping with 4G and 3G on online games such as CS:GO, Battlefield 1 etc. be fine?(below 100 if possible) Thank you in advance.

Well 100GB for two people isn't that much, no. I used to be on a contract of 125gb/month and constantly went over the limit, but I download and watch youtube for long periods of time.

Online games don't consume that many megas. Over the past month or so I have played 25 hours of Battalion 1944 and it only used 40 megas or so, and something like insurgency used 200 megas for 3/4 hours over the past month. So gaming side, you should be fine.

Youtube, no clue. I watch(ed) a few hours of youtube a day, and was easily 100gb+ at the end of the month, between youtube & other browsing stuff. But that's 1080p youtube and 3/4 hours of daily watching.

If you try to not use too much data it should be fine. But you could easily end up over the limit.

Ping-wise, no clue.

Hmmm... But I watch a movie almost daily and be on youtube for 2-3 hours if not more same goes for my brother on youtube who will use the internet, so I suppose it is not enough at all(besides all the downloads and updates we have). If I go over the limit I have unlimited 3G but I guess its is really slow (correct me if I am wrong)

3G is painfully slow. I’d say go with 200Gb if it’s in your budget.

I don't even know if a 200GB option is available in my country... in all home connections the limit is 50GB but mine is a business one so it goes up to 100...

Is it possible to run two separate 100gb plans at the same address or is that not possible?

really depends. A movie can be ~500mb easily, if you watch it in 480p (2 hour movie). You could give it a try and see how it works out. But I don't think it's enough, no.

Nah I don't think it's possible... In fact i can combine 2 seperate lines but I won't get much benefit besides the 200GB for double the price and the same speed as the 100GB. And don't forget double the money and the hassle to keep track of both etc...

All the content we watch is in 480-720p but still don't think it will be enough...

Does anybody know if you can combine two different networks into one like RAID using virtualization?

I have searched it a bit in the past and I know you can do it for adsl but you don't double the download speed eg. go from 24mbps to 48 or something but I think it gets a small improvment... the hassle though omg... the internet provider asks you so many things and wants specific details for such things it kinda pisses me off.

i know.... horrible. Like 5 days non-stop for a 50gb game... yeah it used to be like that for me too.

Yeah... feels bad... and how did you overcome it?

... I moved to another country. lol

otherwise I would still be stuck with that internet. Though if I had moved to a different place, closer to city centre, I could have had amazing internet for cheap.

If you can afford it, go ahead and take two plans. Maybe one in your name and one in your brother's name, that way the isp lets you be. Doesn't look like you have that many options.

On 4G I can get 70-110 ping on games, like War Thunder... with speedtest.net I can get as good as 39ms.

Watching youtube daily and bunch of steam game updates, gaming and stuff, Windows 10 data counter says I've used 440GB in the last 30 days.

Oohh that's not good at all in my case...

Hahaha I think I will have to do the same :P

Maybe take 2 plans but I still don't know, the answer above has kinda dissapoint me in the 4G solution... but I guess if I don't find another way that's the only one.

ok first find out the carriers data management policy probably in the fine print as a link or something. second 3 hours of video at 720p is 4 to 5gigs so three hours a day is about 100 to 150gigs for one month. thats for live action not animated anime is about half that size at 720p. third downloading is completely dependent on you and your brother i by myself downloaded less than 30gigs last month but have hit 130gigs this month not counting video.

also tmobile data management in the us is

4G HSPA+ Network:

  • Download speeds: Typically between 2-6 Mbps
  • Upload speeds: Typically between .5-1.8 Mbps
  • Latency: Typically between 60 – 180 ms

3G HSPA Network:

  • Download speeds: Typically between 400-700 kbps
  • Upload speeds: Typically between 100-250 kbps
  • Latency: Typically between 100 – 450 ms

so you might want to consider keeping the adsl and get 4g if you stop using adsl completely after then drop it

ps sorry about any bad grammar and punctuation and spelling
