B350 update for 2400g

Go to solution Solved by Crunchy Dragon,

I'd just use your current 1700x to flash the BIOS, by far the easiest and quickest, you'll be using your 2400G in maybe 10-15 minutes.

I just found out that my Asus B350 F board does not have the updated bios for the AMD 2400g and I am uncertain of the best path to take for updating.

Option 1: Update at microcenter or somewhere similar.

Option 2: Get a replacement from Asus (I haven't found anything from Asus saying they will do this).

Option 3: Prove Asus won't do the above and get a boot kit from AMD.

Option 4: Use my 1700x to update the bios which would require me to redo my AIO thermal paste. Probably the easiest option but I'm still curious about the above options. (Also, what thermal paste would you guys recommend? I'm not sure I have enough for this project and the noctua nt-h1 looks good).

Use your 1700X to update the BIOS, you don't even have to leave home.

Personally, I've had problems with NT-H1 separating over time and losing thermal performance. I use Arctic MX-4 and I've had no issues with it. It performs well and I'd recommend it.

If it isn't much of a hassle, use your own 1700x.

Else go to nearest microcenter and ask them to do it for you.

Asus could not care less about this particular issue.

Would it be hard to get the AMD boot kit then? (Proving that Asus won't do the update is required.)

Why would you bother getting the AMD boot kit? You already have a 1700x.

Mainly so I don't have to pull mine. I just thought I'd check how hard it is to get a boot kit first. :P

Yep, that's what I plan to do based on these responses. It's actually for a build for someone so the quick option is best.
