So i recently purchased the xps 13 2017 with 8th gen processor and my question is should I game on it or not? I mainly play only MOBA like dota 2 or sometimes fortnite. I don't really need it to be in ultra, low settings are just fine. And it does run smoothly around 120 fps. The only thing I'm worried about is should I play on my xps 13 or not as the temp are usually around 80 to 90 sometimes even 100 while gaming. Will running on this temp damage my ultrabook?

Those games will run fine on lowest settings, maybe you have to dial down to 720p. Undervolting will help, maybe you can do a repaste too.

I use core temp to monitor the temperature, and just sometimes the max temp shows 99. I've tried capping it to 60fps and the temp does decrease to around 70 80 but just occasionally it rises.

This is due to Dell Dynamic Power. TDP limit in XPS 13 is set higher, therefore resulting in better performance but higher temps. Don't worry too much about that.

it hits 99 C

What's the clock speed in games? Is the fan noise loud? If the clock speed is low then it may be heatsink or thermal paste problem.

And yes you can charge and game at the same time as long as you don't discharge and charge too many times. I believe Dell has some kind of utility that can cap charging.
