I use ublock origin on Firefox, it's really minimal and blocks just about everything.

But the best addon for security and control of your browser is Noscript, you should download that

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

i agree with @Energycore, ublock origin is the best adblocker, its open source, regularly updated and very lightweight at 1.97MB. adblock plus has a stupid white list where companies can pay to get there ads through and privacy badger does not block all ads its more about security and tracking.

chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en

firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger. I no longer support ABP as they support allowing certain ads through their blocker, thus defeating their entire purpose.

dont use adblock plus.  they take money from ad companies to let shit through.

uBlock Origin is the best in browser adblocker.

but i highly suggest looking into Pi-Hole as well, as it affects your entire network, not just your browser.

EDIT:  also, on PrivacyBadgers website in response to "why arent all ads blocked"

Quote

Because Privacy Badger is primarily a privacy tool, not an ad blocker. Our aim is not to block ads, but to prevent non-consensual invasions of people's privacy because we believe they are inherently objectionable. We also want to create incentives for advertising companies to do the right thing. Of course, if you really dislike ads, you can also install a traditional ad blocker.

its pretty amazing.  takes all of 5 minutes to set up.

install raspbian stretch lite, update/upgrade, run pihole install command, configure like 3 things, plug into your router, set its ip as your dns on the router.

I keep meaning to make an actual guide for it, but im REALLY lazy
