Is single core performance made for games, and what is multicore used for???

Can you differentiate between them and their uses??

some games can use multicore performance as well, though it's major use is in certain workload like rendering with blender. It also helps in multitasking, like streaming live gameplay footage.

Single core performance still seems to be king in most games but as the improvement stop on each generation I think multi core will start to be utilised much more in the future,

Single core performance is still important in games that can use multiple cores because you need to combine all of the data from the other cores to send that data to the GPU.

 

If a single CPU core is incapable of handling the data streams from everything the game is calculating on other cores, it literally blocks them from doing more work and slows down the whole pipeline.
