HS50 mic not working

I just got a pair of Corsair HS50 headphones. When I plug them into my laptop the audio works but the microphone doesn't. My laptop has one headphone jack

"Go to the toolbar and navigate to the speaker. Right click, click Recording Devices, and set the HS50 as default by right clicking and selecting the relevant options. Yeah I read that and it was no help. When I go to the recording devices there is only my laptop mic

Youve mentioned that your laptop has only one 3.5mm jack, correct? Make sure that that jack is a "combo jack" or more commonly known as "2 in 1 jack, if it is not then that jack is only for audio. Test it out first then let us know
