Im already having trouble finding a motherboard for it

Then forget about it. If you don't even have a motherboard and can't find one, just buy a whole new system.

they should just be forgotten for modern games (anything 2016 and onwards)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

They should just be forgotten. The intel q6600 has 4 cores but is clocked at 2.4ghz and was released back in 2007. I say just build a new computer rather than using old parts that may die sooner than you think.

Use the Q6600 ONLY if you can OC it (good cooler and motherboard). If not, forget about it.

The Athlon isn't even worth using.

I have in my possession 2 CPUS i salvaged an intel Q6600 and i believe and AMD Athlon X2 250 Are either of them WORTH building a system around present day or should they just be forgotten?

If the Athlon is a low-power E model, it might have some use as the CPU in a low-budget mining rig. Otherwise, not for gaming.

The Q6600 can easily be tuned to run at 3GHz on the stock cooler, just by putting a couple tiny strips of electrical tape on it to cover two contacts and make the mobo think it's running at 1333MHz FSB. If you do that and pair it with, say, a 750 Ti, you've got a nice little ultra-low budget gamer that can handle e-sports titles like Overwatch, CS:GO, Rocket League, potato stuff.

Components are pretty easy to find, particularly for the Q6600. Every yard sale this side of Leningrad has an old Dell Dimension or Optiplex, and most of them are LGA 775. If you can get a system like that in good shape for $5-10, then land a 750 Ti for about $60 (tough these days, but doable), you've got a great value performer at the ultra low end.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

The low powered one is the 250u, 1.6ghz I believe. Either mining or general browsing use, maybe some retro gaming depending on what gpu one has laying around or can be sourced for free

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

Agreed. If one could get their hands on something like a 4870 or 8800 GTS and an ancient HP or Compaq that uses that socket, that 250 becomes a compelling little retro gaming box.

And by retro, I mean some college kid is going to pay me $120 for that so he can play Minecraft and Rocket League at 720p.

That's the 3.0ghz model, 65W instead of 25W like the 250u. Still not worth buying an entire system around just the CPU though, or the w6600, unless you can get everything else needed under $50 or so, and even then best only with specific scenarios (def not for current gaming).
