I'm looking at building a new PC for Photo Editing and maybe some gaming etc. I'm looking for recommendation's on the motherboard and CPU. Not sure if I should for an i5 or i7. I don't really need on board Wi-Fi as this will be plugged in by Ethernet. I think 16gb Ram will be enough and I have also found the case I want to. I would like to try and stick with an Intel CPU.

Regards

Phill

photo editing is not a power hungry task unless you start batch converting. you can use a pentium or i3 and you'd only be losing a couple seconds on the final jpg compression saving.

desktop parts are really really fast and you'd be hard pressed to notices any slowdowns.

if you want to do any gaming on it though i5 strongly recomended

  • CPU
    Ryzen R6 5700X

Yeah, if you want to do even some light gaming, make sure you get an i5, and maybe even a low-profile GPU like a GT 1030 which can do some light gaming.
