So I want to buy an second pc for programming and i dont have much money for a new Mac so I want to know if you could run unity on a Mac pro 2009 with 8/16Gb of Ram, with 1 or 2 Intel Xeon W3540  I think, I don't now which Graphics card (I would make mostly 2D games and some not very Graphic intense 3D games)

It might work though it begs if it’ll run well. If you’re getting such an old Mac you might prefer to use Xcode for using swift.

I’d advise building a windows or Linux pc though for the relief of headache get a windows pc or build one. 8gb ram, a decent desktop processor and a gt 1030 should be fine for 2D games.

What is your current computer? You might be fine to try out “Game Maker” “Construct 2” or “clickteam Fusion”

What about this system:

Dual Xeon E5620
 36GB DDR3 1333mhz ram
GTX 1050TI 4GB Zotac itx format
500gb 7200rpm HDD with  windows 10

Heck yeah. You’re fine. That’s pretty overkill.

The 1050 TI is plenty good enough for graphics but by gosh your ram and cpu are soooooo overkill.

The Unity editor itself is not very demanding. It runs just fine on my laptop with integrated graphics (although it makes the fans start up). If you're making 2D games it'll be enough. If you're making 3D games on low end graphics it'll probably still run but only at like 30 FPS.

These are really powerful systems.

Honestly, an i5, 8gb ram, and a 1050ti are fine. That’s my current work computer with a game that exports to 6~ GB stand-alone. My personal computer has about the same specs and it’s fine. I think xeons will just run your power bill up. Do you own a computer already? If not then get a used dell or something with an i5 or i7. Then since you’re looking at 2D, get a 1050TI, 750, 1030, 750 TI or anything in between if not better.
