99% of todays routers have gigabit ports on them by default. As long as you see 10/100/1000 on it, its gigabit.

A lot of routers are capable of 10/100/1000 already. If you want that so your internet speeds will be faster, you'll need to pay for higher speeds.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Sorry if i was not clear ,

my connection is 1gbit from isp.

i need a router that can support those speeds , there are a lot of routers in market which has gigabit wan and lan port but wont support gigabit speeds from the isp (lower hardware)

I dont want to buy a 350$  router , so i am looking for replies from people that have gigabit connection from their isp and what setup they are using to get full gigabit speeds.

Thanks

1) Do you have any other devices at all, that you need a router?

2) I believe most high-end consumer routers are capable of doing single device NAT at 1 Gbps, although if we are talking multiple devices simultaneously, then it is going to be a problem. You will definitely want hardware NAT though.

EDIT: Look for a pfSense or opnSense build. You can use a old PC/server that has at least 2 NICs and make that run as a router. Even something as simple as i3 can do gigabit connection there (I believe you can even go lower actually). This does require some networking knowledge though.

Look at the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Light https://www.ubnt.com/edgemax/edgerouter-lite/ or get a network appliance box (basically a low end x86 CPU like an Atom with 3-5 ethernet ports and not mich else) and run PFSense, OPNSense, or similar router OSs. In either case, use a seperate device as an AP - any router can be turned into an AP even if it doesn’t specifically have a setting or switch for it

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

I just have my cell phone, my pc (wired) and TV, I don't want to deal w/ a custom x86 build etc, I just want a router that works.

have seen gigabit speed test on youtube but the router is not mentioned.

if I connect my pc directly from ont to pc I do get 1gbit speeds. So I am looking for a router.

Might I suggest going to https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/ they have all the tests done and the numbers. That should at least get you to routers that can do what you want. All Im saying is they have the hard numbers. I think thats what your going to want to look at before making any decisions.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Thanks for the reply , i will check that site.

Just to be more clear i donot want or expect gigabit speeds on cell phone or tv (100-200mbit is fine) , i just need to make sure my wired pc gets the full gigabit speed.

I am a single guy so there wont be much multiple devices leeching at the same time.

NetGear R7000 running AdvancedTomato (or another WRT variant) firmware will do the job just fine for your wired PC, along with your TV and phone. Keep in mind that if your TV happens to be streaming Netflix at say 25mbps and you phone is downloading a game over wireless AC at 175mbps, then you'll be left with a theoretical 800mbps for all other connections to the router, including your PC, if you only have a 1gbit connection. I say theoretical because there is overhead, even on high-end enterprise networking gear.
