Laptop Restore Maximus

maxtch

I have finally restored my 14-year-old Dell Latitude D620 laptop back to its prime. Almost every component is replaced or upgraded.

Before the restoration:

  • Manufactured mid 2004.
  • CPU: Intel Core Duo T2300E (2C/2T 1.66GHz 32-bit)
  • Fan whines.
  • Display: 1280x800 TN
  • Have display glitches due to a bad GPU chip revision.
  • Wireless: 802.11b/g
  • One failed 6-cell battery
  • Failed CD-RW + DVD-ROM combo drive in modular bay

Final specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 (2C/2T 2.33GHz 64-bit)
  • Chipset: Intel 945PM + ICH7M
  • Graphics: nVidia Quadro NVS 110MT (64MB GDDR, similar to GeForce Go 7300)
  • RAM: 3GB DDR2-667 (BIOS limit)
  • Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
  • Display: 1440x900 TN
  • Wireless: Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11a/b/g/n/ac + Bluetooth 4.0
  • Cellular: Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA+ cellular module
  • Batteries: 9-cell main battery + 4-cell modular bay battery
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro amd64
  • I am considering adding a GPS module to make this a full-on travel computer.
  • No more display glitches after motherboard swap.
  • No more fan whine after deep cleaning

This build log is typed up on that laptop, while I am installing various development kits in the background. Is there anything you want me to benchmark on this fully restored 14-year-old Dell laptop?
