Whats "Virtualisation".

Go to solution Solved by Crunchy Dragon,

Virtualization is what allows you to run a virtual machine.

A virtual machine uses physical system resources(CPU cores, gigabytes of RAM, etc) to run an environment that acts as a standalone computer. Most people don't have a use for it, but it's commonly used by developers and is a form of emulation.

I have it enabled on all of my computers in case I decide to run VMs(something I have toyed with in the past), there's a setting in your BIOS under CPU Configuration that allows you to enable/disable it. Again, most people don't need it enabled.

Hi, I've noticed "Virtualization" option that is disabled in CPU performance window in task manager.

What does it do and whats its for? Do I need to enable it? If yes, how?

Thank you.

The Task Manager Virtualization column corresponds to UAC file and registry virtualization, a compatibility feature.

If your system hardware support ‘Virtualization’ the only way to enable this is through BIOS settings.
