Laptop school/Light gaming

Hey guys,

Im going to uni next year and im looking for a laptop up to 13 inch.

Usage: webbrowsing, word, powerpoints, youtube/netflix ect... but also for light gaming like Minecraft at lowest settings possible but still 60 + fps

Budget: max $1000 USD

Im really looking for laptops / 2 in 1's not smaller then 11 inch and not bigger then 13.1inch, preferably 128gb SSD and atleast 4gb ram. Ive been looking for a while now and can't seem to find the ideal laptop, any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Pick up an XPS 13. They have the trifecta of Performance - Battery Life - Portability

The older 9360 models with the 8th gen CPU's are great value right now. Should be able to play Minecraft just fine.

The Spectre 13t X360 is great alternative with slightly less battery life but it is a 2 in 1.

You can pick up great deals on both between $850 and $1000 on ebay.

Sure thing. As a college freshman I generally see a lot of peers with either macbook pro 13, XPS 13, or Spectre 13. A couple a others are sprinkled in there like Microsoft surface and gaming laptops but those are the top 3. My advice is wait for a good deal but don't wait too long. By June for example I doubt Dell will be selling any 9360s directly.

You should consider the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7757.

They frequently go on sales for about 800$ give or take. (its cheaper than the xps series)

Id recommend just buying a dell latitude then, because you can get quite good deals. A friend of mine bought a dell latitude with an ssd included (amazing speeds) for about $400.

If you're willing to go used, I've had good memories with HP ZBooks with dedicated FirePro GPUs.

If you can find one, Xiao Mi Notebook Air 13" has an 8th gen Intel i5/i7 and MX150

If you're willing to spend the money, a Razer Blade non-Stealth is really good, especially since you can charge it with a USB PD power bank.

Daily Driver: Asus ROG Flow X13 - 5900HS/3050 Ti

Primary Desktop: NCase M1 - 5800X3D/RX 6950XT

Travel PC: Fractal Terra - 5800X/RTX 3060 Ti

I have too many computers. List here.

I have been thinking about the Acer spin 5 ( https://www.vandenborre.be/laptop-tablet-pc-of-2-in-1-hybride/acer-spin-5-sp513-51-5471 ) or the Lenovo ideapad 710s Plus ( https://www.bol.com/nl/p/lenovo-ideapad-710s-plus-13ikb-80w30058mh-laptop-13-3-inch/9200000076077593/#product_specifications ). The Lenovo has a better gpu tho, but I am not sure which one has the best battery time, how can I get to know this? Also is the 100 euro's difference worth it?

This is really hard. Could you accept 13.3 inch laptops with small footprint?

710S Plus has mediocre battery life. Spin 5 13.3 is better.

Do you think it would last a full day in school?

My laptop I have now is an Asus T101HA with 2gb ram and 32gb flash BUT it has great battery life,32gb is barely anything, can't even install a windows upgrade lol.

710S Plus has really mediocre battery, moreover the CPU is outdated. Cannot recommend.
