I have bought myself a AMD Ryzen 1700 on a Asus Crosshair Vi Hero with a GeForce GTX 1080ti GPU, I have connected it to my Sony Bravia kd55xe9305 TV which has hdmi 2.1 and is HDR10 compatible, I have set the HDMI 2 and 3 port on the TV to be extreme so it is ycbcr 4.4.4 and RGB compatible.

The issue is that when I turn HDR on in windows 10 it doesn't activate and reverts back to being off. Does anyone know why and how to fix this?

HDR on PCs is overall a joke I really wouldn't worry about it.

Should also totally sell that 1080ti for $1000 while you can.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If it's like my Bravia, HDMI 2.x is only available on certain ports. So the first is to make sure you're on the right port if it has a restriction.

The second is that HDR on Windows is finnicky anyway, but this mostly due to the apps not supporting an HDR color range and practicality:
