USB problem with headset

Hello, I have a headset that connects via USB and I've been using it on my laptop no problem for a few months now. Recently I bought a desktop and when I tried to play game and go on voice chat (in-game or discord) the mic just simply shuts off from time to time and people are unable to hear me until I unplug the headset and plug it back in. I went back to the laptop and everything is normal again so it's not the headset. Any idea why this is happening? Thank you!
