I am looking tupgrade my corrent rig.

At the moment I am using an

i5-3570k

Biostar TZ77B [broken] (the reason for the upgrade)

16gb RAM

MSI 1070

an assortment of ssd's and a hdd for bulk storage

I got the 1070 cheap about a year ago. My MoBo is having issues with the CMOS for quite a while now, but it si getting to the point where some programs dont start up anymore.

At first I wanted to just get a new z77 mobo so I can oc my i5, but those are hard to come by. They got for about 150-200 eur used on ebay and I am not paying that much cash for an used z77 board.

I am debating between a ryzen 5 1600x and a 1500 and if just going with a singlechannel ram for now and get the second stick later is going to impact performance that much. I kinda want 16gb again, but i can afford that much ram right now. An other option would be to get 2x4 right now and sell that to get 2x8 later down the road.

Any input from you guys is highly apreciated, thx in advance.

See if you can find used Haswell CPUs maybe.

the problem is, that my motherboard is broken, if it was functioning, i would be able to oc my i5 and breathe a couple of years of life back into my system.

Or do you mean to get a used haswell based system and work from there?

I mean, see if you can find a used 4690k or something with matching board.
