Ok so a few days ago my pc starting running games like conplete crap stuttering and freezing forcing me to force close in some situations(the game, the pc itself and windows never locked up it was always responsive while games were locked) well my pc has a 120gb boot ssd (patriot blaze) and a 1tb wd blue and the only thing on the mechanical drive is my steam libraiy for this is pretty much just a gaming and content comsumption pc,, well a few times upon starting up it did the whole “scanning drive d (the mechanical drive) and reparing”, i figure ok something funky might have happened with some files when i had to force close some of these games upon hard lock ups. Well it did this the next 3 or 4 times i booted and have used it, and wothin these last few hoirs everythibg became unplayable at first it was just taxing games that would make it really start to mess up i.e pubg gta5,, but i could play less demanding things like csgo and smite perfectly like there was nothibg wrong until a few hours ago, so throughtout the ladt few days i have been trying to solve this issue i reinstalled uninstalled and installed drivers and backed and reformatted the hard drive with nothing making any kind of sign of working so i downloaded the seagate hdd test seemed legit and like it worked and the hard drive passed all the test but i was still not convinced,, this led me to try one ladt thing to prove it was the hard drive or so i hope, i backked up my steam games and shut the pc down and unplugged the hdd, i then put a few of the games i was having problems with on my ssd like pubg and they are working flawlessly off of the ssd like nothing was ever wrong, so i ask u guys since these games are now working perfect on the sdd after unplugging the hdd, would you say that my hard drive is bad? I really do think and hope that it was the issue i am just a little worried because it passed all the seagate test fine but literly games were unplayable while running off of it but they run perfect in the ssd.. plz anyone get back to me asap so i can order a new drive so my down time isnt as short as possible, thank you in advance

Storage drive stats (S.M.A.R.T. data) can be checked with crystaldiskinfo. Give that a shot with HDD connected.

You've already run the correct software by going with SeaTools, as this is our official diagnostic utility and it's not recommended to run 3rd party diagnostics on our drives because we don't disclose hard drive attributes and thresholds for testing. Our Knowledge Base covers this in more detail here:

If you'd like to try and reach out directly, you can get in touch with Seagate Support to see what the next step would be.

Relocated sectors are normal, as long as the number isnt too great.

probably corrupted data?

No difference. SMART data is a data log like an odometer in a car (records mileage), cant erase its data without opening the drive.

so upon seeing these results and reading the original post what is your opinion? im pretty sure the drive is bad like i said i could not play anything on it yesterday then put the games on the ssd yesterday before i posted and the games worked, and still do work flawlessly i played some pubg after work maxed out no issues at but the hard drive wouldnt even let me get into the game and that is the only variable in the situation nothing is overclocked and i did an re did all the driver updates before switching to the ssd so it is all the same only thing is running off ssd now at its like nothing ever happened, i just want to hear it from someone else that might have more experience than i do here

did you check the game files' integrity in the HDD? Steam can do that check, though I'm not sure about the exact steps.

yes this was the first thing i did as it is usually the answer to steam game errors but nothing changed i even uninstalled and reinstalled games, the next thing i did after that was gpu drivers i first uninstalled and reinstalled the current ones, then i went back one one update with nothing changing so then i just reupdated to newest again and nothing changed the ssd seems to have fixed the issues i have been playing games since i got off work here and there and they work perfectly fine

Talking about this, I recalled my experience with Assassin's Creed Origins. It wont fire up when put into my Steam library, in a HDD (D drive). After searching around, it comes up that the game only starts up when put in the C drive (HDD or SSD doesnt seem to matter, but my C drive is an SSD). I moved it (just copy and paste, couldnt wait for Steam to do that) to the SSD, and it worked. In your case though, the games worked for some time in the HDD, didnt they?
