Personally HELL NO its not wroth the extra cost. So how much is a single 680 reference 2GB $479. You can do you're own price matching and comparison it is a choice and both are viable.

i can get a reference 680 for $450 in australia. from galaxy. is it worth it?

If you only plan to use 1 card, go the 680 but if you think you might want to get a second down the track then 670s work out much better value as its roughly a $200 saving over 2 cards.

Get a 7970, it's faster than a 680 at the same clock speeds and because the 680 is voltage locked, the 7970 can achieve higher clocks creating an even greater performance advantage.

I recommend getting an HD 7970, it's faster than a 680 and costs the same as a 670, you also get 3GB of ram instead of 2 and a much larger memory interface, which gives the card a huge advantage over the 680 and the 670 with Anti Aliasing .

The 7970 also overclocks extremely well unlike the 670/680 because both are voltage locked.
