pc stopped working so nicely

so basically in overwatch (my "main game") i use to get 144+ fps all the time, and sometimes i use to play minecraft and would get 700+ fps ez aswell. but recently i struggle to maintain 144fps always, and in minecraft i only get like 300 fps now. Any reasons why? Also in overwatch, if i go to "reset video settings", my game is smooth for a game, and after that its not smooth unless i restart again and reset video settings. any reasons?

When did it start failing? Did you change anything?

What graphics card do you have? Can you tell me the specs of your pc?

have you monitored temps while playing you are probably getting thermal throttle. it to me sounds like as you game longer it heats up to much and then has to down clock the cpu and gpu so you lose performance.

main system build --> i7-7700K (at 5.0 ghz), MSI Z270 SLI Motherboard, corsair vengeance lpx 8gb ddr4 2666mhz,  costume liquid cooling loop with 360 mm radiator on CPU, GTX 1080 gigabyte windforce OC, 1TB WD drive, 128 gb samsung nvme m.2, EVGA 850 watt semi modular power supply, CM storm stryker case (ya not ideal for costume loop), VIOTEK GN34C 34 inch curved monitor <----

how can i make it cooler? when i get on today im going to start my cooler again and see if it works (i have to stick a pin in and start the fans. its like theyre reluctant to start

use hwmonitor or another temp monitoring program your choice  and then run the program then play a game then go back and check your max temps this will tell you for sure if this is your cause. and the solution to high temps is a laptop cooler.
