I have an interesting issue with an old motherboard. Fixing a PC of my friends grandparents, they have quite an old PC. The motherboard in question is this one:

Their HDD died and i tried to put an old one i had in it which had windows on it, it came to the windows starting logo and then crashed, no surprise there, so decided to do a fresh install, went smooth until the point it had to do a restart to continue the install, PC restarted and after POST screen that shows ''click F2 for setup'' and ''click F11 for boot menu'' and showed the HDD there and got stuck:

And stays on this screen forever. I don't think the SATA controller is dead since it clearly worked when it tried to boot up and previous windows install. BIOS flashing didn't help.

EDIT: Ok for some reason it now works. Before i tried to install W7 since it's more resource friendly and it froze there, now i installed windows 10 and it went on fine, so i have no clue why windows 7 wouldn't work.

Could be a compatibility issue maybe? Glad your problem is solved. This stuff makes my head spin.

But the thing is that it worked at starting W7 up, like i said i had an old W7 install on that HDD, tried booting it up and it got to the starting up screen and then BSOD since W7 is not really great with switching hardware, it only hang on that screen when i tried to reinstall it. Also if W7 was an issue, W10 wouldn't work either, that's what boggles my mind.

And i really want o put W7 on cause it works better on older hardware, it lags less and such (personal experience)
