Windows VIsta Installer Issue

Hello Everyone, to start things off, I'm messing around with this for fun and it is not on my main machine. I have an old laptop that I thought would be fun to mess around with. Anyway, as I'm trying to install it I get this CD/DVD driver error. I do not know if there is a work around of a driver I can get. I have an HP G2 355. Thanks in advanced everyone.

2 things, is the laptop UEFI and are you booting from DVD or USB?

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

Go to the HP website and download the drivers for your hardware. https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-355-g2-notebook-pc/6732470

Chuck them on a USB or something and then you should be good. Load them in the setup wizard and then your CS or hard drive, whatever the issue it's having is, it should show up.

It's worth mentioning HP don't support Vista on that laptop though, and it is vista, so maybe you should just abandon ship

That's a laptop that's far too new for Windows Vista to be useful. I don't know why you'd want Vista on there. It doesn't have driver support, and you probably can't find them anyways.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

It was just a fun project.  I enjoy messing around in random OS's

1) I'm unsure, but if I had to guess off of quick googling UEFI

2) I'm booting off of USB

Yeah it's UEFI so you're going to have to enable CSM/Legacy Boot Mode to get Vista installed.

Take the USB out of a USB 3 port and put it in a USB 2 port instead ;)

Pretty much everything will work fine with 7 drivers, the only thing that won't is Video (due to Vista being WDDM 1.2 & 7 being WDDM 2.0) but I reckon Windows update should sort Video drivers out anyway.

For the love of everything holy make sure you're Vista install includes SP1 at least. Vista pre SP1 is not something you should not be running.

Why not use a VM? At least you’d have proper video support with Aero.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

You don’t have an older computer?
