Question about headset/headphone cables

Just wondering, whats the difference in having a headset/headphone that has the cable going out from only one part of it(either only left or right side) and having a headset/headphones that has the cable coming out of both sides?

Is it only something for the looks? Is it annoying having a headset/headphones that have the cable coming out of both sides? Like dont the cables get in your way?

Specs of my PC:

It's mainly just how they are designed, the only real difference is that the other cable goes up and through the headband to the other driver.

There is less to break when the cable splits and goes to each driver directly, but the one cable and over the headband style is less cluttered and easier to manage.   I guess like the coiled versus straight debate, pick your poison.

It doesn't change anything the human ear can perceive, but I'm sure you could measure some minimal difference with sensitive enough equipment.
