Hey guys, I've recently purchased a pre-built HP Omen 870-224 gaming PC. The PC is awesome, Intel I5-7400, an ok Odense2-k MOBO, GTX 1060 3GB, 8gb DDR4 2133, and a 450 wtt psu.

I have aceess to two usb ports as well as a mic and headphone jack on the top of the case. besides the Graphics cards, the MOBO IO includes multiple USB ports (that work), however, the HDMI ports on the MOBO as well as the audio in/audio out as well as the microphone jack don't appear to be working?? Is there some set up I need to do for this or do I have some bunk ports?

Does your cpu have a integrated graphics chip? Also did you set your device that's plugged into the back ports as default? And did you plug it in the correct Audio port? Maybe have a look at your Mainboard Manuel if you can find one

Maybe try seeing if your audio devices show up in your audio managing thingy, don't know the English word or it at this very moment.

They don't, only when I plug into the Audio Ports on the top of the case will it show that those are in fact connected, but when I plug into the IO, nothing...

passive aggresive as I felt like I was being treated like a noob...But I'm infact a noob Grade 2, I know my basics lol

I do already have my HDMI running to the GPU, would this prohibit the rest of the mobo IO from working?

Well you're wrong on that, xeons of the e5 and e7 family don't have integrated graphics, also nearly all extreme CPUs launched till now don't have integrated graphics

make sure the onboard audio is enabled in bios

make sure drivers for the onboard audio sound card are installed

Right click on speaker icons, select playback devices and select the audio output of the integrated audio card. Sometimes, if the video card driver is installed first, the OS defaults on HDMI out on that video card.

Select Recording devices (same right click on speaker icon, select your mic / line in from onboard audio )

for the front panel jacks, the cable would have to be properly installed on the motherboard in the hdaudio connector (or for older computers ac'97 connector) - if the front panel connectors don't work, maybe the connector was pulled out during shipping?

I am relaxed I just suggest a few things that could be the source of the problem...just getting all of the Standart obvious stuff out of the way. Like the thing with forgetting to turn the PSU on when trying to start the pc...just start simple and then get into the more specific stuff...that's at least my way of dealing with problems... I'm not trying to offend anyone.

Pretty much yes since the Mobo outputs are only for the iGPU and if you have a gpu installed the iGPU turns off

It's all good man I do appreciate the help, everyone knows everything on then interwebs but sometimes you'll find those who don't so thanks for starting with the basics at least

aah know this I did not know, I'm going to try checking the things mariushm suggested to see if I can get any results first. but having a dedicated GPU would prevent the MOBO's hdmi ports from working anyways correct?

Some motherboards automatically disable the integrated video card when a dedicated video card is detected, to prevent confusion.

On others you can manually go in bios and configure the integrated video card to keep working, so that you could have for example monitors connected to both video cards.

In that case, the audio from the integrated video card would continue to function.

So no, there's no guarantee that installing a standalone video card will disable anything integrated/onboard. You can make educated guesses but it's not 100% full-proof.
