Hi! I am currently out on a search for an affordable productivity computer that can be used for programming, has a long battery life, portable, along with under $800.

So far I've found one computer

Any other suggestions?

My buddy has one of those, and it's actually pretty good. It looks like the option for slightly more RAM is much more expensive, so I think you should be ok with the 12 GB. The 1050 should work well. Most of the other ones I would recommend would be above 800, so I think the Dell would probably be best.

If you try to go 16GB RAM, slightly higher storage, 7200 RPM HDD, or 1050Ti, your price exceeds your $800 budget. So I think you've pretty much maxed out with this one. It's definitely solid, and will work very well for the job. It is a bit on the "heavier" side compared to some other options, but I think it's definitely better construction when compared to Acer offerings.

Edit:

Probably the only other thing I might recommend; however, you're shorting yourself 4GB on this one. This won't be too important at first when you start programming; however, once you start virtualization, you'll want a bit more. You can always upgrade in the future if that is something you want to do. You can always expand RAM. It can be expensive though. So something to keep in mind.

Dell 5577 doesn't has good battery life. Dell 7567 has. If you need something portable, has good battery life and powerful, look for Ultrabooks with Kaby Lake Refresh CPU
