These are all parts I'm thinking of ordering for a Gaming Centered PC

Case: Corsair Air 240 black (not sure if better case out there)(open to suggestions)

Processor: I7 8700k

Ram: Corsair Vengeance RGB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600 (also not sure if this is what i will end up going with)(mini supports up to 4333mhz while micro 4000mhz) <--- Explain why smaller board can support higher frequency please!

Storage: Samsung 960 Pro 500gb M.2 with possibility of adding second one in future (not sure what best storage solution is out there atm but this seemed promising)

PSU: Corsair HX750i (unfortunately out of stock atm)

Motherboard: (This is where the problem lies) Either Asus RoG STRIX 370-i or Asus RoG STRIX 370-g (Not sure if I should go Mini for the M.2 heatsink, or Micro for later expandability)(side note mini comes with RGB on board as well as opens up more cable management grommets and in air 240 allows for another rad on bottom of case if need be)

Graphics: GTX970 that I am carrying over from old computer

Cooling: Corsair Hydro H100i v2 (just cooler) + Corsair LL Series 120mm x3 Dual Light Loop pack

Also if anyone in LMG is reading this, a build video with micro and mini would be appreciated as there is currently no video that answers my questions, hence why i am posting on here. (time limit on reply to this is 3/3/18)

Likely reason that the Strix Z370-i can support faster memory is the fact that the board only supports two memory modules. This means shorter traces.

There is no indication how the system will be used. Gaming and general use systems don't benefit significantly from NVMe drives. It would be better to go with a SATA III ssd and either get a larger unit or use the savings on some other component.

A 750W psu significantly exceeds required capacity. Consider instead a 550W unit. Seasonic Focus Plus Gold and Focus Plus models are excellent. As is the Focus Plus Platinum. Corsair has the TXM and RXM lines. Evga G2 and G3 are also good choices.

If the Strix Z370-I is selected, a mini-ITX case would be best. (One has to insure that the gpu and radiator will fit in any selected case.) You might consider a case like the Nzxt H200i or the Fractal Design Define Nano S.

An mATX Strix Z370-G build would look good in an Air 240. Other cases to consider would be the Nzxt H400i and Fractal Design Define Mini C TG.

PCPartPicker.com is a very useful tool for assembling build lists. Pricing for a number of countries is available. One can also enter customer parts and pricing. Using the [bb] button, one can then copy and paste a nicely formatted list into a post.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
