New GPU to system

OK, so I have a question that's most likely been asked already but I can't find it lol.  I currently have a basic PC, gigabyte main board, i3 quad core cpu, details not so important. I use the standard onboard graphics display as I don't do much gaming, but I was interested in starting a little bit of mining. Now my budget is very low so it wouldn't be a good GPU to begin with, but it will be good to play with and learn on. My question is, if I add a GPU to my system, does it disable the onboard graphics, and therefore everything goes through the new GPU, or can I maintain the status quo, and dedicate the new GPU to just mining. If so, how would I accomplish this.

you can leave your monitro plugged in to you monitor and it should be fine, but the gpu will be used by chrome for example (i think).

 

But your integrated graphics should work fine, maybe the mobo disables them (idk why it should but it maybe will because of reasons) you'll have to enable them again (i think through the Bios but i never used the onboard graphics

There is usually an option in the BIOS to re-enable the integrated graphics as, by default, integrated is disabled when a dedicated GPU is installed.
