There has been a lot of conversation here in Houston about some kid RATting a school computer and taking access over it, so it has come to mind to me that I should tell you guys how to protect yourselves from RATs.

1 - Use ESET and Avast, ESET is very good at detecting any form of malware wether it would be crypted or not crypted, and Avast is good at handling things when it comes to java-based RATs.

2 - Always check your computer connections, go to CMD and type in "netstat" and then it will show all the connections connected to your network and to your computer, if you find something out of

the ordinary, research it. If you think something is out of the ordinary, try matching the suspicious IP address with your IPv4 or Default gateway, if it is 127.0.0.1, then it is local.

3 - Always keep your security features and software up to date, this is very important because if you ignore updates for something like an antivirus (which is what some people do) then you could put

yourself at great risk.

4 - If downloading something from the internet, always check it with https://virusscan.jotti.org/, or https://www.reverse.it/

5 - One time every week, keep a backup of your PC data on a hard-drive, I backup mine using my dads old local data server.

Other anti-viruses I can recommend: RogueKiller, MalwareBytes, HitmanPro, and ClamXaV.

Thank you for reading this! Have a nice day! :)
