So I plan to build my first PC in June, which will include an i5-8400, a 1070ti, and 16 GB of RAM. I already have a 40inch 4K TV (a Samsung MU6290), which I was thinking of using as a display instead of buying a 1440p monitor. Will I be able get decent FPS in games like Star Wars Battlefront 2, Battlefied 1, and Forza Motorsport 7? I want to be able to play at 2160p or at least 1440p. Also I’ve heard a lot about pixel density in displays (I don’t know too much about it either). Will my TV be able to provide a clear image with the current pixel density it has, or should I just invest in a monitor.

how far are you going to sit from the monitor?
i can say that i can peck out every pixel on my 4k monitor at 27" from my sitting distance, but I can also say I cannot peck out the pixels at 768p 15.6".

I know that you should be able to get decent framerates with the 1070ti at 4k, albeit at lower framerates and visual quality than what you would get with 1440p, but it still would look beautiful (for me in GTA V, 4k low looks better than 1080p medium/high, but 4k low runs at 30fps..)

try it out for a while, see if your tv has low input lag, if it does and it works for you, go ahead!

if it doesn't, you can always buy a monitor.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I’m sitting about five feet from my monitor. Thanks for the help!

Good enough for me
