7-Zip: PLEASE HELP ME

Hey! So I am a big fan of sims. As a fan I can officially say that I am addicted to getting cc, if you get sims cc you know that a lot of content is in zip files. Recently I got a new lap top and downloaded sims 4 on it, with my regular unzipping soft ware I used on my old pc, 7-zip. It seems like every time I fix an issue another one occurs, and it confuses me so much. Basically, my files are not opening. I watched a YT video and did exactly what he did until his pc allowed him to change what the software would open, mine does not, and I assume that is where my problem lays. I have a windows 8, if that helps. I am not really sure what to do so please help me, I need my sims cc. Thank you!
