hello,

Can you comment on my part list? I want to make a workstation for single-threaded and parallel compilation, no graphics processing involved

I don't really have a fixed budget, I live in Portugal.

Monitors: 2x 1080p

Periferals: Linux OS

OC: yes

Main focus is on single-core processing power, but multithreading up to 8 threads is also involved.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LckLkd

1. is the money well spend, are the parts ok?

2. Is it possible to save a bit on the motherboard?

3. comments on savings, or spend a bit more?

thank you

@Legendarypoet, I'll start purchasing parts soon. What does MCE stand for?

Multi-core enhancement which would push the chip to boost even w/o an overclockable board. Perhaps a solid air cooler over the masterliquid though. I've had back luck w/ 2 of those.

- Cooler isn't leaky unlike the AIO you chose, and has less points of failure, if you want an AIO at least go for the H100i

- Better HDD

- Better Airflow Case

- Better PSU

really love the case :D I'll see if I can find a good price for it.

Which one? The one you chose?

That one doesn't work with many air coolers due to height limitations.

Poor Motherboard choice. You have a high end CPU and such "low end" mobo?

if you want a really good and decently priced motherboard, get the Asrock Z370 Extreme4. If you have a bit more money to spend, Taichi.

Don't save money on key components that are the base of stability and reliability ;)

Meh, I just chose this because of that review that said it being ok since it had beefy cooling.
