Torrent Speed

I use BitTorrent to upload files to my server. Both my networks have high speed internet connections.

My question is, why does the uploading of my files happen at an average of 10kB/s over such fast connections?

Its likely that your ISP throttles torrent traffic, use rsync instead.

I just watched my uploads jump to 300kB/s out of no where and then fall back down.

 

And I've had no trouble downloading files from torrents with large populations. So, I'm not sure my ISP is throttling me.

My isp is limiting torrent speeds to 120kB/s, even though my real speed is 4,5 mbps.

 Well, now I'm getting a pretty constant upload of 300kB/s. Still not great but certainly better than 10.

 

rsync looks really interesting though. I'll have to look into it more.
