Bought everything to build a computer with ryzen 2400g apu. Motherboard needs new bios. Can't update bios without a supported processor.

Trying to avoid a lengthy hassle with MSI shipping board to them so they can redo bios.

I checked this before buying thinking i could do it if i had too. The bios update does exist.

called 14 stores locally, no one has an open box ryzen cpu to do this with, so trying here.

i realize this is a very common mistake and see several others made this same mistake.

So if you're local and can help let me know.

A lot of motherboards have a little "socket" for the BIOS chip. It's most laptops that have it soldered.

no no. some do have it. it's not the most common thing though. it's more likely to be soldered on nowadays single or dual bios boards. you can still flash them externally yourself with breakout USB programmers just like you do on a GPU. (this is not a very recommended method so many things can go wrong, and i'm pretty sure most people don't know wtf its doing)

if you have the funds, you could always buy a new processor, flash the bios, then return it.

ive had to do that before
