Thank 'ya mate, I'll get a koffee lake next month then :3

You dont need cofeve lake, ddr4 price double every day, just get the highest end i7 your current mobo supports. You wont lose performance, and can even oc it.

Hello Everyone!

I'm going to need the help of the community yet again. I had a Graphics card upgrade to my rig in November last year, I got a Gtx 1060 instead of my trusty ol' 750Ti. My problem is, that all of the games are stuttering, for example, Battlefield 1, on normal settings 720p, run at around 35-40FPS, and there are lots of .1 % lows. The scenario is even worse when I try to play some of the newer games like AC Origins. I know, that I have a bottleneck in my PC since...
my rig contains.:

-I3-4160

-8GB Kingston DDR3 1333Mhz

-Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB

-Windows 10

My question is: Can my CPU bottleneck my GPU SO HARD, that it's so limited, or do I just not have enough RAM to run modern day games? Is it even possible that my GPU is underperforming?

I can happily provide more info, if needed. Thanks for everyone in advance.:D

It is the cpu. AC Origins runs badly on even a 4 core, not even talking about your dual core, you could get a used i7 for cheap to replace your i3.

Thank you for the very fast answer. Should I get a 4th gen I7 or a Coffee Lake I3-8100?

I used to get that FPS in battlefield 1 even with a 1070, so I'm guessing cpu?

Yes. If you got cofeve lake then you would have to buy new mobo new ram and it would cost more, and unless you get the 8700 performance difference isnt that big.

well I was thinking about waiting for the budget motherboards to come out in march, and get an I3-8100, and getting 8GB DDR4, and that would come out as 300$ish, but as I can see, the I7-4770 is around 300$ so in price I would come out almost exactly equally...

If you get used the 4770 should be much cheaper.

I live in hungary, so don't expect that.... The iPhone X is the most expensive here, out of the whole world(just an example)

Well if the both options cost the same and you plan to upgrade to 8700k further down the road get the newer option.

would it be worth to upgrade to 8700k even if i don't have an OC-able mo? I rellay don't have money for a Z series motherboard, And I won't ever have...

just get the cofee lake i3 and be set for a while. It only has 4 threads but that is enough for a few years. Also it will consume less power than a old i7.
