building a mid range gaming pc, (not for myself this time, ) is gtx 970 the best solution for the 250 and less price range?? wasn't sure if amd had options and where they fall compared to a 970 .. dont really know anything about amd tbh, and when i bult my personal rig, amd wasnt even in the running xD  but i know times are changing , and since i not outing a 1080 in this build i thought id adk about amd , just 1080p gaming, no streaming  anything like that

Amd had options that were really good, but because amd cards are better than nvidia for mining all amd cards have disappeared.

390 is an gtx 970 equavalent, 390x and the fury series of cards are a upgrade.

If you can find a fury x or r9 nano these are good cards.

Er, I think AMD isn't really a thing due to crypto-currency miners buying most of them...

Sorry, but it's not that good of a time for buying GPUs, so what about getting a cheap GPU your friend can *do* "normal" things with and selling it once GPU prices normalize? ...
