Bandwidth limiting software

So my isp makes you start paying after 1 terabyte of bandwidth usage and I have gone over that a decent amount. I was wondering is there is any pc software that can limit your bandwidth usage, i've tried looking around and the only thing that comes up is crappy android "battery savers"

Windows 10 does let you mark a connection as "metered" for whatever good that does. I think you can set certain things as "do not download over metered connections" to try to save unexpected data usage.

Speaking of data usage though, check yours. go Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage, then click on the block and you can see how much you've used, broken down by app. Perhaps that can help you target where you need to focus your efforts.

For Windows, NetLimiter is one of the best.

You can set it to perform various actions when you reach a certain data usage quota, such as give you a warning message and I believe stop all network activity on that PC.

It's also worth checking your router's settings for bandwidth quota settings. Some will allow you to set a maximum quota for inbound and outbound traffic.
