Windows 10 search file contents not working

For a long time I have had trouble searching the file contents within some folders (typically folders inside my profile, library folders, etc...). Today I finally found the solution.

Reading the description it still seems obscure, because I haven't been searching system files, nevertheless this is how I got Windows 10 to finally search the file contents in places were it wasn't.

  1. Open folder options (can be located in the view tab in a folder).
  2. Select the search tab.
  3. In the "How to search" group, select "Don't use the index when searching in file folders for system files (searches might take longer)"
  4. Click "OK" or "Apply"

So I'm just posting this information in the hope it will help someone else.
