SDH Vs Raid 1

Hey people,

 

I'm sure this has been asked many times but what's the difference between SDH and Raid 1? My Synology DS218 set itself to SDH when I switched it on for the first time and just wondering if I should change it before I start moving data over.

 

I have 2x 10TB drives and want to keep it as 10TB with redundancy.

When you navigate to your disk station using windows explorer and it only shows 9-10TB of useable space then your in what is effectively RAID 1. By default it will use a redundant form of raid.
