Hello :D!

Im planning on building a PC in April. But I've, hopefully, already worked out the parts. But i just want to make sure first, and to be sure that im getting the most money efficient and cost effevtive computer i can get. Im using Australian currency, and getting stuff off newegg and pccasegear. Im mostly going to play games on it, and occassionally some editing, but i usually get off my computer during rendering. My budget is between $1500 - $1800 AUD (preferably the lower end). Im also playing on 1080p 144hz. Im one of those FPS fnatics haha

Here is what I have so far:

Case: Coolermaster Masterbox 5 Pro RGB - $100

CPU: intel i5 8600K - $250 - $336

MOBO: Gigabyte - Z370 HD3 (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard - $155

CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM - $50

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8GB – $799

Ram: Team T-Force Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model TLGD416G3000HC16CDC01

Hardrive: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive - $60

SSD: I have an old 480 gb one. So no need to worry about costs :). And ive tried it, works perfectly fine :D

Power Supply: Corsair - CORSAIR CX series CX550 550W ATX12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - $76

Is there anything i should change or to cut costs down on? Thanks :)

EDIT: removed optical drive and edited cpu cooler from coolermaster to h7

Edit 2: replaced 310 dollar rgb ram with 230 dollar standard. Who needs rgb ON RAM anyways? Haha

what kind of games. because if you wanna hold a budget you could always go for a cheaper cpu and then because its a z370 board you could take a z270 or z170 or maybe go for ryzen. just if you wanna go down in price. most games run on the gpu so you would not really need a 8600k, idk if you are planning to overclock, but if not you could also just go for a non k

i spent $3500(23,000dkr.) on building my pc and i only play csgo on low settings..

:Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700  CPU: Cooler: H100i v2  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming  RAM: Corsair Dominator 3000mhz 16GB  SSD: Kingston 960 GB  Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus viii Formula  PSU: Corsair RM 750x 80+ Gold  CASE: Coolermaster H500P

Hey Logan!

System is pretty good overall, I would however get a better quality PSU!

Slower RAM can cut costs without ruining performance much at all since you're running intel.

Do you want to overclock your CPU? If not the i5 8400 is a superb option.

You can't use Coffee Lake on z170 or z270 boards, he can get a cheaper CPU like you said but he also needs an older generation CPU for those motherboards you recommended.

The CX(2017) model is actually pretty decent from what I've heard and seen.

For OP, if you don't plan to overclock you could drop to an 8400 or wait for Ryzen 2 and see the performance numbers from that.

Hey :). Thanks for the reply :D

Yeah, im planning on overclocking, but will i need to though? Like, if i were to go with a 8400, would i still get that magical 60 FPS in modern and (hopefully) future titles?

Also what PSU would you recommend?

Thanks :)

Also, i currently use a potato. Q6600 and a entey level 2010 radeon. So i only play CSGO and TF2. But im looking to head into some AAA games :)

The 8400 is a beast for just gaming, I can't imagine it going below 60FPS at all unless the game is super poorly optimized.

well you wont need to overclock. and if you were going to you would need better powersupply. and the 8400 its still a really good cpu. and tf2 and csgo dont use much. and as i said the gpu is the most important part for gaming

It's not just Nvidia.  3rd party card makers just put in orders the other day, so like you have to give them time.

oh wow thought it was only going to be founder edition cards

The price scalping isn't amazon, newegg, and most others.  I think only like BHP hopped on the scalp train.  You're seeing these prices from 3rd party sellers on these sites.  Newegg and amazon are out of stock all their cards.  It was a mix of miners, holiday shoppers, and others buying up all the pascal cards.  So, when cards are back in stock you will see a price drop.

oh nice to know. maybe another 1080 for me then
