Hello,

since this is my first post I will try to my best in my a litte bit brocken english and so. I will try to keep the first (main) post updated with my choices and any good suggestion/combos.

The Story:

Some days ago I saw from qnap TS-X77 serie with ryzen 5 / 7 insinde and somehow I was really fascinated about that. I was thinking about the raw power the serie should have for nas; vm's; and media pc.

Then I was a bit shocked about the price $1649 - $3099..which translate to 2000€ - 3800€.

My Plan:

- PCI-E Slot for GPU for direct connection to my TV as media pc (4k HDR)

- about 6-8  3'5 drive bays + 2-4 2'5 drive bays

- some desktop format, no rackmount or so on (tower or cube shaped case)

- highly likely an ryzen cpu because of pricetag and core count

- some VM's and docker container's and that kind of stuff

I am not quite sure about my buget but I should get the same or more functionality as the qnap stuff for cheaper or around equally price.

My Questions..

1. My first step would be to find a case thats like the form factor from the qnap system..or some small/medium tower case which is suitable for this kind of build.

Any suggestion are appreciated but should be region sensitve as I am in europe (precisely germany).

Alright, sound like a good setup but I can't really see what kind of case or which case you are using for your NAS.

It's in my signature click show more but I chose a tower as it fits well with my desk setup and I won't ever need more than 10 drives for which my case can handle

And no that's not Ganja I'm working my winter months learning hydroponics for this upcoming spring very interesting after a few hiccups I'm doing well with my little laboratory!
