So after hearing Linus promote TunnelBear video after video I decided to check it out and it seems pretty cool but I have some questions.

What's the difference between the TunnelBear extension for Chrome and the base TunnelBear program for my entire computer?

I assume the extension just protects Chrome while the program covers all data in and out of my PC.

What is the usefulness of being able to "tunnel" to other countries? Does that mean I can watch US Netflix from the UK and vice versa?

How fast is TunnelBear because I do quite a lot of gaming/streaming etc. and I really don't want my connection to be slowed down.

And finally, is TunnelBear really necessary?

Oh and is there a way to let TunnelBear know that I came because of Linus' videos? I intend to get an unlimited subscription once my questions and concerns are satiated.

Any help, advice or personal experience would be great thanks!

chrome extension is for when you're out on another computer I guess using chrome and you want to VPN somewhere but you don't have permissions to install the program itself

to access region locked sites, or content. So, US netflix in Canada.

Dont game with with a VPN and don't stream with one. Rip PING and upload speeds. It should only be used for when you're 'protecting' yourself from people snooping in on what you're doing (in that case, you're fucked already),

no, and use LTT referral code. It isn't necessary in most first world countries.

1) the extension for chrome will only hide your IP when in chrome, the program will hide it on everything (skype connections etc)

2) An example i can think of is that alot of video streaming sites are blocked in the UK but still available from US or other countries, so "tunneling" to a country that doesn't have them blocked would allow you to access them.

3) not sure how fast it is, never used them.

4) depends how concerned you are about your online security

5) yes, the link they put under their videos contains an affiliate code.

1.        Your exactly right!

2.        You can do things that get released early in other countries, visit region locked websites etc. Netflix can detect VPN use and doesnt allow it so no luck there.

3.        It is quite fast. I wouldnt suggest yo game on it, but you totally could. I have left it on for a few CSGO matches in the past and it wasnt a big deal.

4.       Linus has (or had) an affiliate link. not sure where it is but i have class in a minute so im not gonna try to find it know. its out there though.

VPNs are not nessary but if you want to shield your internet traffic from your ISP this is the best way to do it. Also torrenting doesn't work on tunnel bear so keep that in mind

Why is it not necessary in first world countries?

because not everything is censored (see; china, north korea, 'shithole' countries, etc)

you could use it to prevent snooping, but, tunnelbear isn't really good at that since it is in the five eyes and pretty much if you're 'interesting', then you're already soo fucked
