Cablemod incompatibility?

Hello community,

 

So I bought a cablemod essentials pack to plug in into my Corsair RM650x.

 

Turns out the PSU has, for the 24-pin connector a 18pin+5pin connector as opposed to 14pin+pin connector provided by cablemod. 

 

Now the cable doesnt fit in, because the insert for the clip is in the middle. If I want to plug it in, i'd have to cut the clip on the cablemod connector to make it fit.

 

Can someone explain to me why the PSU has 18 connectors and tell me if I can just plug the cable mod cable in and leave 4 connectors unused in the PSU?

@HappyDog_420 if you purchased the AXi/HXi/RM kit instead of the RMi/RMx kit then there would be a difference in the 24-pin cables. Please email Support@CableMod.com and we can get you the correct 24-pin cable.
