Hi Guys

I have a problem where I simply can not figure out why this is happening.

Every time my computer has been off for a couple of hours my GPU doesn't start during post. My screen register the boot but doesn't remain on. It shuts off After a few seconds. And then nothing happens untill I reset. Then the computer Posts just fine.

I have a Gigabyte GTX 1080 Xtreme gaming.

Gigabyte HD3P Z270

Intel Core i7 6700K @ stock clocks

Main drive is a Samsung M.2 drive on the motherboard.

My display is a Acer Predator X34 G-Sync

I have switched motherboard.

I have switched PSU. Both were approximately 200+ watts over the systems Max requirements at Max load.

Tested GPU in the other PCI-E ports.

UEFI is the newest version.

Firmware on the GPU is the newest version.

I havent been able to find anything in the UEFI that seems relevant to this issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

This a bit out there, but it could be it. Have you tried upading the GPU driver or rolling back to a more stable version?

Switching PIC-E lanes?

I have had this issue since I got the GPU. I have tried several different drivers but without Luck.

I would normal chalk it up to a defective GPU. However it performs perfectly in all other aspects. Im convinced theres a solution,  I just can't find it.

What about that CPU? Perhaps for some reason that Motherboard during the first boot tries to load the intergrated graphics from the CPU? And I know you said that you have switched the motherboard, but you have not switched the CPU. If you have such a chance, try it?

Or

See in the UEFI if you can set the graphics to a PCI-E slot. I don't exactly remember what that option is called. It might be set to Onboard.

If this doesn't solve anything, then perhaps it's the GPU itself.

You mean that he might be using his iGPU?

It's quite unlikely since that means he has to plug the video cable into the motherboard rather than his GPU and a bunch of other stuff.

Has @OP tried another GPU?

That's true, but at this point I'm not even sure what it could be exactly. Yes, chances are it's the GPU. But these days I'd rather try everything before considering buying a new GPU.

I have not, but I Will be in about 2 hours.

I just can't imagine what would cause the GPU to not boot and then without fail boot every time it gets reset.

It honestly just might be a bug on that specific gpu.

On board graphics are disabled. UEFI doesn't have settings for Gfx in certain PCI-E ports but nothin power or boot related. It semester to be for gigabyte o board gaming settings or some such. With this on and off there Is no difference.

Then I have one thing that you can try.

If I understood correctly, you say that you got this GPU as a replacement for the old one, yes? Very unlikely, VERY, but what if you were to uninstall the GPU driver, clear the CMOS, reinstall graphics driver again and then see what happens?

If this fails, then with upmost certaintly I would blame the GPU itself.
