Hi everyone,

So I'm having this problem lately. When turning the pc on alls fans (cpu/gpu) and HDD spin up, but my motherboard does not post, also my monitor does not detect any signal.

The weird thing is: If I use the jumper on my mobo to reset the CMOS it works fine, I can turn it on and after a minute it will post and notify me that settings have been reset and it will boot up fine. I even did a 8 hour stresstest on the full system and no errors/temp issues.

But the next time I try to turn it on, it will not post and my screen detects no input.

Things i've tried, and did not work:

- Another monitor

- Take out GPU and use integrated graphics on cpu

- connect another PSU

- reconnect all mobo connections

- Remove all usb devices except keyboard/mouse

- reseating cpu

- swapping memory

I know its quite rare for a cpu to go bad, but could this be the problem?

Specs:

CPU: Core i7 - 3770k at mild overclock 4.4ghz

GPU: XFX R9 280X, never overclocked

MB: MSI z77a-g43

Memory: Kingsting Hyper X Blu / Corsair dominator (corsair for testing)

SSD: Samsung 850 evo

SSHD: Some 1TB hybrid seagate drive, dont know exact type

PSU: OCZ ModXstream Pro 600watt / corsair cx750m (corsair for testing)

I hope someone can help, or has any experience with the above symptoms.

Thanks in advance!

Did you apply your overclock again right after resetting your CMOS? It sounds like a bad overclock, try dialing it down a notch.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Hi there,

No I kept all settings stock while troubleshooting. No oc or overvolting whatsoever. Also it had been running fine on 4,6 ghz before, just using 4.4 ghz for longevity, power usage and heat output.

I just tested with my old 2500k I had lying around and it works fine. (yes my mobo is second and third gen compatible).

What happens if you disconnect the data drives?
